Concept
Ulteo's mission is to simplify your digital life, i.e, the way people use their PC, applications, data and online services. Our first service, the Ulteo Online Desktop (currently in beta), allows for users to safely try and use the latest version of desktop applications in just one click.
No download, no install, no patches or updates necessary In true collaborative fashion, you can share your desktop with your family, friends or colleagues. Ulteo plans to release other services simplifying the life of PC users by providing easier access to desktop applications and online services as well as data management in the coming months.
Ulteo intends to contribute a portion of its profits to humanitarian and ecological organizations. We believe that every company which benefits from the market place should help fight against child malnutrition and current ecological disasters.
FAQ
Can I use the Ulteo Desktop from anywhere ?
To ensure a good experience of the Ulteo Online desktop we recommend a broadband connection. You may experience some latency as we currently have servers in Western Europe and North America's eastern seaboard. We will gradually add more locations to ensure optimal quality of service. The Ulteo Online desktop can still work with limited bandwidth, but depending also on your location, your user experience might not be optimal. If this is the case, please let us know, be patient and/or upgrade to broadband.
Who is behind Ulteo?
Ulteo was started by Gaël Duval, recognized for developing a user-friendly Linux distribution now enjoyed by millions of people around the world. MandrakeSoft was a pioneer of the Open Source movement. Other serial high tech entrepreneurs are among the founders. We are looking for very talented software developers. What applications are supported?
For the beta test we have included a few useful open source applications that you should like. The list will grow longer. We are going to add the ones requested by most so just let us know your wish list in the questionnaire. We'll add both open source and windows apps.
Sound not supported yet?
The sound in not yet supported in the Ulteo Online Desktop. We understand that it will be an important feature and we are working on it. Thank you for your patience.
Is my data secure ?
Yes, all data transmission between the browser and our server is securely encrypted. We're doing our very best to secure your user data although, just like with any other service, there can be no formal guarantee.
