Ulteo & Open Source
Ulteo SAS, which is a commercial company, strongly believes in Open Source as a way to make better software.
As a result, most parts of software used in Ulteo are covered by an Open Source license.
Furthermore, all the source code created by Ulteo is available for download under the terms of the General Public License v2. It means that Ulteo source code is available and can be used, modified and distributed, but only by conforming to the rules of the GPL v2.
As a result, please report to us any infrigement on Ulteo software terms of use! In particular, our source code can not be integrated and distributed in proprietary software without Ulteo's agreement.
Ulteo Open Virtual Desktop executables & sources distribution policy
In order to get the best benefits of sharing Open Source code while succeeding as a commercial company, Ulteo has its own rules to distribute its products, as well as some other major commercial Open Source software companies do. They all conform to Open Source requirements, in particular the GPL v2. Those distribution rules are:
- all the source code is available for download, and conforms to the terms of the GPL v2 for Ulteo parts
- most Ulteo executables are available for download, excluding OVD "Premium modules" that are not available for free download. In general, those Premium modules are intended to large corporates projects.
- if some Ulteo source code is modified, rebuilt and redistributed as an executable, we ask to remove all Ulteo logos and Ulteo trademarks from the resulting products, including in the corresponding source code. This is needed to avoid any confusion with official Ulteo products. Of course, as required by GPL v2 licensing, authors & copyright information (Ulteo or others) should NOT be removed from the software.
