Ulteo Open Virtual Desktop 2.0 Release Candidate Download

November, 13th 2009: Ulteo OVD 2.0RC1 is ready to download and test! Enjoy the new portal mode (in addition to desktop mode) and many new features that will be detailled on the final release. Choose from an installation mode below and report bugs to report-ovd-bugs(at)ulteo(dot).com.

Note: be sure to have a clean network DNS configuration between your Session Manager and Application Server(s): follow the installation documentation.

Installation

Thank you for choosing Ulteo Open Virtual Desktop! Please select your downloads below.

You can install the full OVD 2.0 RC product online from your Ubuntu 8.04 server by following the documentation (recommended!):



You can also install the OVD on Red Hat Entreprise Linux 5.2, Centos 5.2 and Fedora 10 by following this documentation.

If you want to install the OVD from an ISO, you can download it here.
Note : this ISO DVD will install both the host OS and the OVD software.

  • Note: when you are using a virtualizer, be sure that you have PAE/NX (Physical Address Extension) option enabled

How to test?

When you are testing, you can focus on the following tests, but feel free to do any other test!
Report bugs to report-ovd-bugs(at)ulteo(dot).com - thx!

Windows

  • Use windows app like MS Office, Photoshop...
  • Install on Windows Server 2008.

Linux

  • Install on an RPM-based Linux system (RedHat/Fedora, ...)

Client

  • Test with "exotic" JVMs like the Ubuntu one, or the MacOS one...
  • Use the web portal mode.

Administration

  • Install/remove applications on linux APS.
  • Use Policy for administration delegation to users.

End-user desktop experience (classic desktop & web portal mode)

  • Is the desktop or the portal look consistent and everything fits in the screen?
  • Is the interface responding reasonably fast?
  • Do I have desktop environment in the language that was choosen for sessions in the administration console?
  • Do I have applications in the language that was choosen for session in administration console?
  • Can I launch applications and use them?
  • If I'm using a non-qwerty keyboard, is the keyboard layout correct? can I type accents and use meta keys in main applications?
  • Are there startup notifiers for applications?
  • Can I print from applications?
  • Can I share applications?
  • Are main applications (openoffice, gimp, firefox, thunderbird...) up to date with the version there are expected to be?

Known Bugs

Général

  • WebDAV does not work with Windows Application.
  • Performance issue with Active Directory for a lot of users.
  • Esc key is not mapped in the session.
  • xterm does not use /etc/passwd -> user have access to a console even if the administrator had forbidden it.

Portal mode

  • No known bug.

Desktop mode

  • Application startup notifications are missing if the file manager (Thunar) has been used priorly.

Windows agent/daemon

  • No known bug.
